“Every story we tell has a human touch and this is the best way to promote conservation action”
MAJIRANI (COMING SOON)
A story of harmony, mutual respect, and shared space.
This is the story told in Majirani, a gentle yet profound film that reminds us of what’s possible when people choose to live with, rather than against, nature. More than a film, Majirani is a conversation starter, a learning tool, and a challenge to communities across Africa and the world to imagine a future where people and wildlife share not just space, but respect and understanding. It offers a rare and beautiful perspective: that living in harmony with wildlife isn’t a dream of the past, it’s a living, breathing reality.
THE FOREST GUARDIAN
A MAN WHOSE HEART, IS THE FOREST.
Conservation impact is one that requires consistency, persistence and patience over time. A significant amount of people in the world want trees to be planted, and the oceans cleaned. But how many are actually addressing climate change: planting and nurturing of trees and cleaning up oceans? Ssezi’s heart, mind and soul has been in the forest for fifty one years. He has managed a forest that has so far been a refuge for sixty Chimpanzees and is an important wildlife corridor between Budongo and Bungoma Forest. You walk with him in the forest and you fall his love with the forest. He takes you on a journey where he explains when he planted some of the trees, their names, and medicinal value. Ssezi’s story is one that I wish to share in order to o inspire others to commit to conservation action for forest and biodiversity.
MATUMBAWE
Coral reefs are an integral part of the ecosystem because they provide shelter and food for many species of fish and other aquatic life. They also provide a natural barrier against storms and other natural disasters, protecting coastal communities from flooding and erosion.
Our recently produced short film in partnership with REEFolution Foundation, Matumbawe, is a story about the Khadija the daughter of Dosa Mshega a REEF Ranger who works restoring the coral reefs in the Wasini Channel area in Diani, Kenya. REEFolution Foundation, in collaboration with the Mkwiro Beach Management Unit (BMU), has established a Community Managed coral restoration project in this area.
Involving local communities in marine conservation is essential to the long-term health of our oceans. Community engagement is a key factor in ensuring the sustainability of marine ecosystems to protect marine life. Through community-led initiatives such as the REEF Ranger program, which is an opportunity for the community members to become marine conservationists, they become more aware of the threats facing their local marine environment and are better equipped to take action to protect it.
Khadija the daughter to Dosa will be learning how to be a REEFranger with the father. Join us support Khadija and his father support ocean conservation.
