Preserving the Guardians of the Sea in Ghana (Ongoing Project)

Preserving the Guardians of the Sea in Ghana is an ongoing storytelling and conservation project focused on the protection of hammerhead sharks along Ghana’s coast. Through photography, film, and collaboration with local fishing communities, the project highlights the role of fishermen as stewards of the ocean while reshaping the narrative around sharks from fear to understanding.

By documenting traditional knowledge, conservation efforts, and the ecological importance of sharks, the project aims to inspire greater awareness and support for marine conservation across Africa

The Project is support by National Geographic.

Tanzanias Leading Coral Restoration of Kilwa

Along the southern coast of Tanzania, the waters of Kilwa are becoming a beacon of hope for coral reef recovery. Led by the community-driven initiative Action for Ocean Tanzania, local divers and coastal communities are restoring damaged reefs by growing and transplanting corals back onto the seafloor.

What was once a declining ecosystem is slowly returning to life—bringing back fish, strengthening coastal resilience, and creating new opportunities for local livelihoods. This story captures how local leadership, science, and ocean stewardship are helping rebuild one of the ocean’s most fragile ecosystems.
